Every child deserves a best-fit school, and one size does not always fit all.

San Antonio ISD has a rich history of providing students with learning opportunities that best meet their unique needs. Today the district has more than thirty Choice Schools and Programs offering a variety of models: International Baccalaureate, Montessori, Dual Language, STEM, Single Gender, and more.

SAISD’s Office of Innovation plays a critical role in the district’s goal to provide all students with opportunities for academic success. Through the Annual Call for Quality Schools, current campus leaders have the opportunity to revise existing in-district charters. Approved campuses will receive autonomy over time, talent, and resources in return for greater accountability in the form of a performance contract. SAISD also has Senate Bill 1882 partnerships with mission-aligned nonprofits to bring additional expertise and resources to in-district charter schools.

Annual Call for
Quality Schools

Through the Annual Call for Quality Schools, SAISD requests proposals to revise existing in-district charters. The SAISD Office of Innovation supports applicant teams through regular training, targeted coaching, and detailed application feedback.

In-District Charter Schools
& SB 1882 Partnerships

In-district charter schools are SAISD schools that are granted increased autonomy in return for greater accountability for student achievement. Senate Bill 1882 partnerships allow in-district charter schools to partner with mission-aligned nonprofit organizations that provide support and expertise aligned to each school’s unique mission and academic model.
